Habanero Releases New Client Portal Built on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007

Habanero is delighted to announce the Beta release of our new client portal built on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007). Based on extensive client research, the portal will further enhance communication and collaboration between Habanero, clients, and partners.

A Microsoft Gold Certified partner, Habanero is a SharePoint pioneer having deployed more than 100 solutions since Version One. In addition to four Microsoft-initiated Rapid Deployment Program (RDP) projects, the client portal is one of two extensive implementations Habanero has completed since MOSS 2007 was released to the market in December.

"Habanero has deployed two large-scale, customized MOSS 2007 solutions, our Client Portal and CGA Canada's Professional Development Network website (PDNet), which puts us at the forefront of this market," states Elliot Fishman, Vice President. The client portal spotlights several exciting new features available in MOSS 2007, which were difficult if not impossible to achieve in SharePoint 2003:

  • The ability to completely customize the user interface allows Habanero to create a truly Habanero-branded experience that is exceptionally easy to use.
  • Compatibility with Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari ensures all clients have access to the portal, no matter which operating system or browser they use.
  • Multiple authentication providers allow for secure access to data by users inside the organization using Active Directory single sign-on and outside the organization using a separate authentication database.

Habanero engineers achieved breakthrough deployment speed using proprietary custom developed tools. As Graham Sibley, Technical Architect states, "We built a tool that effectively reduced our build package and deployment process from many hours to a few minutes. The tool gives Habanero an important advantage, as we can reuse the tool on other projects and save significant amounts of deployment time." The portal was also designed to feature integration between SharePoint and back-end line-of-business systems through web services.

For Habanero's clients and partners, the portal helps team members stay informed and up-to-date on their projects. Within the portal, users have the ability to collaborate on documents, track bugs and issues, view billing information, and confirm project status. With access to community-based features, portal users can also access Habanero team member information such as phone numbers, biographical data, and photographs.

With clients spread across North America, the new portal provides another way for Habanero's clients to remain closely connected with their project teams.
