Habanero Consulting Group (Habanero), an Internet consulting services company, has designed, developed and delivered a new external website for NorskeCanada.
With 3,800 employees, NorkseCanada is one of North America's largest groundwood paper companies, and one of the largest public companies in British Columbia. NorskeCanada is the world's largest producer of telephone directory paper and a leading supplier of newsprint and specialty papers.
In the summer of 2002, NorskeCanada retained Habanero to redevelop the website initially built by Habanero in April 2001, after NorskeCanada was formed when Norske Skog Canada acquired Pacifica Papers.
The first site achieved corporate objectives — providing an excellent communication vehicle to its key stakeholders and building the NorskeCanada identity within the company's primary markets.
This latest website redevelopment has a more targeted business goal: to raise NorskeCanada's public profile and to become a household name with strong "brand" and product recognition among the general population.
"Habanero has the right combination of fresh ideas, business understanding and customer responsiveness to give us a total service solution," said Deborah Somerville, NorskeCanada's director of corporate affairs. "The new site has all of the ingredients we asked for to meet our key objectives."
Elliot Fishman, Habanero Principal Consultant, cites specific strategies such as subscription tools and streamlining the web presence with other ongoing marketing initiatives as having a big role to play in making NorskeCanada a recognized brand name. Says Fishman, "NorskeCanada is at the forefront in recognizing the value of their external website in helping to shape its public image."
