GreatCanadianHotels Travels in Style with Habanero

Habanero is proud to announce the launch of the recently redeveloped CHIP Hospitality website promotes more than 30 multi-brand, mid-market to upscale full-service hotels and resorts in all Canadian provinces that are either owned or operated by CHIP Hospitality, L.P. In April 2003, CHIP Hospitality partnered with Habanero to redevelop the fully bilingual website.

CHIP Hospitality's move to strengthen its online brand and marketing capability is aimed at capitalizing on the growing use of the Internet by travelers and meeting planners. A recent Ipsos-Reid study on "Online Travel" shows that the Internet is now the number one source of travel information for Canadians. Forty-one per cent of online Canadians now get their primary travel information from the Internet. That's almost double the number of people that use a travel agent as their primary source. And people are not only using the Internet for travel planning, revenues for online bookings are also on the rise. Jupiter Media Metrix forecasts that annual online travel sales will top $64 billion US by 2007, up from $24 billion US in 2001.

Habanero worked closely with CHIP Hospitality's marketing department to redevelop the new online identity for Improving the user experience was one of the primary project goals. This was achieved through an enhanced user interface and by simplifying the site's structure. Hotel pages were redeveloped to allow consumers to see more images of the properties. In addition to having more imagery, the new design organizes the hotel amenities, in a clear, concise manner.

Habanero President Steven Fitzgerald said, "The new website displays the content-rich hotel and special promotions pages in a clean and sophisticated manner. As well, the new site structure supports travelers that want to research the hotels as well as travelers looking for a special weekend getaway package."

Integration with Macromedia Contribute has given CHIP Hospitality's marketing department direct control over regular content maintenance tasks without the need for support from IT. The new design is flexible, and can accommodate the potential for growth not only within the hotel and special promotion areas, but also in other strategic areas of the business.
