Habanero, a leading Vancouver-based e-business consulting firm, announced today that it has been chosen to work with The Goalie Company (TGC) to help plan and build TGC's newest online presence: goalies.com.
goallies.com will be a fresh new portal for the global hockey goaltending community. The site — which launches this summer — will offer community-building features and services, including up-to-the-minute news and commentary, dynamically generated pro stats and ratings, online discussion forums and shopping.
Over the next twelve months, more features will be added for site members, including personalized training, stats and ratings, free web-based email, and live chat with hockey pros and experts.
The site will incorporate outstanding features available from TGC's partners: From The Crease and the Goaltender Development Institute. Both sites already attract over 250,000 visitors from six continents.
This initiative is backed by Ian Clark and Scott Carter. Ian is one of the world's foremost goaltending coaches and educators. Ian is founder and President of GDI Inc., The Goaltender Development Institute. Scott has extensive experience in the hockey industry, from management, coaching and scouting to wholesale product management.
He says, "goalies.com will be the premiere online destination for goaltenders of all ages. I chose Habanero because they have exactly the approach I was looking for when searching for a partner. Their understanding of e-commerce strategies and implementation aligns with the values and goals of this project. As well, given our choice to use Microsoft's Commerce Server tools, Habanero expertise in Microsoft technologies will ensure our success."
Habanero CEO Neil Jensen is enthusiastic about the project: "We're excited to be chosen by TGC for this project. The goaltending community is a perfect audience for the portal concept: it is a tight, well-defined niche with real unmet informational needs. The Goalie Company has a deep understanding of how to meet this communities needs online, while Habanero brings to the table the planning and implementation skill-set to make the site happen."
