As part of the 2007 United Way Day of Caring, 10 Habanero employees left their desk jobs behind for an afternoon and got down and dirty building planters and moving soil. The effort was in support of The World in a Garden—Multicultural Youth Seed-to-Table Project. The program will provide approximately 200 youth with experiential learning opportunities to plant seeds in the soil, tend the gardens, observe growth, and harvest food that will be donated to the food bank and low-income families.
The United Way of the Lower Mainland Day of Caring is an annual event that allows employees to develop team-building skills by taking part in meaningful local work projects.
