On November 26, the winners of the first ever Vancouver User Experience Awards were announced at a sold out event at the Roundhouse in Vancouver.
Submissions were judged by five prominent figures in the local UX community based on four criteria: joy, simplicity, elegance, and innovation. The sold-out gala included a keynote presentation from Jonathan Suter, founder of SimpleTax. There was also a People’s Choice category where finalist submissions were voted on by members of the Vancouver User Experience Group and attendees of the event.
The 2014 Vancouver User Experience Awards winners are:
Customer experience: SimpleTax (SimpleTax Software Inc.)
Employee experience: Jostle (Jostle Corporation)
Future experiences: Molson Canadian Beer Fridge (Rethink)
Non-profit: Ronald McDonald House Magic Room (H+Technology)
Student: Parrot (Brenna Randlett)
People's Choice: Ronald McDonald House Magic Room (H+Technology)
The Vancouver User Experience Awards were co-presented by Habanero Consulting Group, OpenRoad, ThoughtFarmer, and the Vancouver User Experience Group.
Award sponsors included Telus Digital Labs, iQMetrix, UX Guys, Grand, Intergalactic Agency, and Forge & Smith.
