VanSPUG is Born

Habanero Consulting Group developers have established the first-ever Vancouver SharePoint User Group (VanSPUG). The goal of the group is to bring together the local SharePoint community to share experiences, ideas, tips, and best practices for developing solutions on the SharePoint platform.

Peter McFarlane, Habanero's Director, Engineering, states, "Habanero engineers have gained a ton of experience and knowledge on the SharePoint platform and felt obligated to give back to the community." He adds, "Similar to SharePoint user groups in some other major cities, the Vancouver group will enable our developer community to continually evolve and increase our skill pool in this region."

The group held its inaugural meeting on Thursday, September 18, 2008 with over 90 people attending, 50% more than the number expected. The evening featured two Habanero SharePoint developers, Sherman Woo and Denny Chow, who discussed some of Habanero's recent SharePoint work and focused on how the technology has helped clients overcome specific business problems.
